Effectively oil-wet barite and drill solids, to incorporate those water-wet or dry solids into the oil phase of invert emulsion. It also has a marked thinning action in cases where high mud rheology has been created by drill solids and weighting agents. Normal treatments range from 0.5-3.0%, depending upon the wetting requirement, It is primarily a wetting agent and a dispersant but functions as a secondary emulsifier when weighing up oil base systems, it is used to oil wet barite when large additions are required. It works effectively over a wide temperature range. Wetting agent is consumed as it coats water-wet solids, requiring continuous addition as drilling progresses and regular treatment when adding commercial solids
• Functions as a wetting agent.
• Improves emulsion stability and maintains stable water in oil emulsion.
• Improves thermal stability, rheological stability and provides HTHP filtration control.
• Functions well in high lime mud systems.
• Functions in the presence of contaminants.
• Wets weighting agents and drill solids to prevent them from becoming water wet.
• Effective at low concentrations.
• Compatible with other oil-based drilling fluids.
• Can be added directly to the system.
• Appearance: Dark liquid.
• Odor: Slightly mineral oil.
• Specific Gravity (20℃): 0.88 – 1.00.
• Pour Point: 0°C to -10°C.
• Solubility: Soluble in oil.
